Using Claude AI to Analyze Your Drawbridge Data:
Want to ask plain-English questions about your business data and get real answers? This guide walks you through connecting Claude AI to your Drawbridge Metabase database so you can ask things like "What was our busiest day last month?" or "Which game has the lowest escape rate?" and get instant, meaningful answers without pulling reports manually.
What Is This and Why Would I Use It?
Drawbridge stores all of your booking, game, and employee data in a database called Metabase. Normally, getting insights out of that data requires knowing how to build reports. With Claude connected to Metabase, you can just ask questions in plain English, and Claude will query the data and explain what it finds. This is particularly useful for: Reviewing booking trends and revenue patterns, Analyzing game performance and escape rates, Tracking staff and Game Master activity, Spotting busy periods and staffing gaps
Before You Start You will need:
A Claude Pro plan ($20/month or $200/year). This is sufficient for most users. If you find yourself hitting usage limits, a Max plan is available. To get the most out of your token usage, always switch to Haiku 4.5 when starting a new chat (see Step 6 below).
Claude Desktop is installed on your computer β this will not work in a browser window.
Your Metabase login credentials (the same email and password you use to log into Metabase).
Two setup files provided by Drawbridge:
Project Instructions.mdSchema.mdThese are available at the following Google Drive link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HpDRlzUeh04Wf6GIDmLdcX8PxVVlq8cU?usp=sharing
Important: Only connect Metabase to Claude for now do not connect other apps or tools. Every connection adds background context to every message you send, which slows responses down and burns through your usage limits faster. Keep it simple and stick with Metabase only.
Installation and Setup
Step 1: Install Claude Desktop and Sign In.
Go to https://claude.ai/ and download Claude Desktop.
Open Claude Desktop and sign in with your Claude account
Step 2: Create a New Project In Claude Desktop
Click Projects in the left-hand menu
Click the black New Project button
Name it something like "Drawbridge AI Analyst"
Click Create Project
Step 3: Download the Setup Files
Go to the Google Drive link above and download both files
Open
Project Instructions.mdon your computer and copy the entire contents
Step 4: Add Project Instructions
Inside your new project in Claude, click the + sign next to Instructions (Scroll down a bit if you don't see it it's below the text box)
Paste the copied instructions into the box
Find the following line in the instructions it's in Section 3, about 50 lines from the top: Default database | Drawbridge Oracle Replace Drawbridge Oracle with the name of your venue's database.
Click Save
Step 5: Upload the Schema File
Click the + next to Files in your project
Upload the
Schema.mdfile from your device
Note: If the setup files are updated in the future, just repeat Steps 3β5 with the new versions. Claude will immediately start using the updated information. Please do not edit these files yourself if you have feedback or want something to work differently, share it so the files can be updated and shared with everyone.
Step 6: Connect Claude to Metabase.
In Claude Desktop, click Customize on the left-hand side, then click Connect Your Tools
In the search bar, type "Metabase" and select it from the list
Click Install
Once installed, enter the following:
Metabase URL: https://public.drawbridgeai.app/api/metabase-mcp
Connect. It will ask you to connect to Metabase. If it asks you to sign in, sign in and it will connect.
Step 7: Switch to Haiku for Better Usage Efficiency.
Every time you open your project and start a new chat, do this first:
Look at the bottom right corner of the chat window. You'll see the current model name. Click it and select Models, then choose Haiku 4.5
Why does this matter? Claude defaults to its most powerful (and most resource-intensive) model. For structured data like a database, Haiku 4.5 is more than capable of giving you great insights and it uses roughly 10x fewer tokens, meaning you can ask far more questions before hitting usage limits.
Step 8: Test Your Connection.
Go back to the main menu and open your Drawbridge AI Analyst project.
Start a new chat and ask Claude: "Can you see my Metabase? What data do you have access to?"
If everything is working, Claude should describe seeing booking, employee, and game data
What to Ask Claude Once connected:
You can ask Claude questions like:
"What were our top 5 busiest days last month?"
"Which game has the lowest escape rate this quarter?"
"How many bookings did we have last Saturday vs the Saturday before?"
"Which Game Master sent the most hints last week?"
"What time slots are most frequently booked?"
"Are there any patterns in when people no-show?"
The more specific you are, the better Claude's answers will be.
Troubleshooting Problems:
What to try:
Claude doesn't see any Metabase data.
Wait 5 minutes after setup and try again.
If still not working, go back to Connect Your Tools and confirm your credentials are correct.
Responses are slow or hitting limits.
Make sure you've switched to Haiku 4.5 (Step 7). Also, check that you haven't added extra tool connections beyond Metabase.
Claude gives incorrect or unexpected data.
Ask Claude to explain its reasoning and which tables it queried. Share feedback so the Schema file can be updated.
The setup files have been updated.
Repeat Steps 3β5 with the new files. It only takes a few minutes, and Claude will immediately use the updated version.
Still Need Help? If you run into issues during setup or Claude isn't returning the data you expect, contact support@drawbridgesolutions.com and include a description of where you got stuck.
